The Woodburn Police Department is currently accepting applications for Reserve Police Officers.  Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 3th, 2018.


Reserve Officers are men and women who volunteer their time for the Woodburn Police Department and the City of Woodburn.  Upon completion of the state required training, Reserve Officers patrol the city and are charged with the same duties and responsibilities as their paid counterparts.


Reserve Officers are required to volunteer at least sixteen (16) hours of patrol time every month, as well as attend monthly mandatory meetings as well as training sessions required by the State of Indiana.


In addition to these time requirements, applicants must also meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age by the time of appointment (roughly by December 2018)
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Possess an unencumbered Indiana Driver’s License with a favorable driving record
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Have a limited misdemeanor background with no recent convictions
  • Live in Allen County or in a contiguous county


Prior to being accepted as an officer, applicants will be required to take the following steps:

  • Take a Physical Agility Test
  • Pass a Written Aptitude Test
  • Complete oral interviews
  • Pass a thorough background investigation
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Pass pre-employment polygraph testing or voice stress analysis
